The Northeast region’s river basin group covers an area of 166,370 square kilometers or approximately one third of Thailand’s area. Furthermore, the urban and industrial expansion, the widespread use of chemicals for cultivation results in degradation of the water quality in water bodies to the level below the standard criteria.
